 EMS uses large scale composting to treat organic waste contaminated material in windrows to alleviate the need for landfilling and the inherent liabilities that transporting hazardous waste entails. The SCARAB® can be used in the processing of waste water treatment plant biosolids and in soil remediation.
With the increased necessity for finding alternative methods for handling waste streams in order to divert them from dwindling landfills where soil is a non-biodegradable material that uses precious airspace, composting has proven to be an efficient and effective method. Composting of the waste material helps speed up the natural decomposition process and produces a beneficial final product that can be reused as soil amendments. EMS has pioneered the use of certain amendments to materials undergoing treatment that speed up the biodegradation process and result in non-contaminated material that can be placed back in excavations eliminating the need for off-site fill as well as reducing the costs for remediation by eliminating costly landfill disposal fees.
